JV drop last game to Kern Valley
The Rosamond Roadrunners JV played at home Friday afternoon facing a team that hadn’t lost a game in two years and had only given up 37 points all season. The result was a lopsided 43-8 loss to the Kern Valley Broncs who remained undefeated with one game left to play.
Kern Valley took control early marching 72 yards down the field from their own 28 picking up four first downs on their first possession with runs by #7 Cody Bulgarelli and #37 Dakota Claude. Claude finished the drive by pounding it in from the 3 for a 6-0 Broncs lead.
After forcing a 3 and out for Rosamond and getting excellent field position at the 50, Kern Valley went right back to the running game but this time only needed two plays to get to the end zone. Bulgarelli broke a 27 yard run for a first and ten at the Rosamond 23 and Claude took it in from there to make it 12-0. Aylen Atkinson added the PAT to make it 13-0 after one. Atkinson hit a 27 yard field goal at 9:30 of the second and added the PAT after Kyle Cawein scored from the 5 at 1:28 to put Kern Valley up 23-0 at half time.
The Broncs wasted no time getting back to work in the third. On first and ten at his own 47 yard line Claude found a big hole in the Rosamond defense and ran it all the way in for his third TD of the day. The Runners weren’t able to generate any offense going 3 and out and Kern Valley scored again on their next possession with Aaron LaFarga finishing off a 38 yard drive by punching it in from the 6 to put the Broncs ahead 36-0 at 5:04.
Late in the third the Rosamond defense finally came alive forcing the Broncs to punt from their own 20. Chris Fandrey blocked the punt and Andrew Lewin recovered the loose ball for the Runners at the Kern Valley 8 yard line. Two plays later Brendan Facey took it in from the 3 and Angel Gardoni ran in the two point conversion to put Rosamond on the board with the score 36-8 at 11:55 of the fourth.
The Runners defense came up big again on the Broncs next possession when Facey picked off a pass at his own 45 and returned it 55 yards to the end zone only to see the play called back for a block in the back penalty against Rosamond. The drive was stopped when Travis Gibson came up with an interception near mid field for Kern Valley who then picked up 3 first downs getting all the way to the Rosamond 7 yard line. Facey came up with his second interception of the day in the end zone only see that one called back too, this time on a roughing the passer call giving the ball back to Kern Valley. Two plays later Cawein scored his second TD of the day from the 4 with Atkinsons PAT making the final score 43-8.
The JV Roadrunners finish at 3-7 while Kern Valley hopes to remain undefeated when they meet Frazier Mountain next week for their final game of the regular season.

Rosamond ends season with loss to Kern Valley
They would have needed some help from other teams, but the Rosamond Roadrunners entered Friday nights game still clinging to a chance to make the playoffs with a win. Instead the Kern Valley Broncs ended their season by beating them 21-14 at Rosamond High School.
The Roadrunners forced the Broncs to punt on their first drive of the game but a nice kick pinned them inside their own 3 yard line. Three plays later Scott Winslow pounced on a fumble in the end zone to give Kern Valley an early 7-0 lead. An interception at the Rosamond 21 yard line by Ethan Kennedy set up the Broncs next touchdown just three minutes later when Tyler Gibson punched it in from the 3. Both PAT’s were good to make it 14-0 at the end of the first. Another interception, this time by Gibson at mid field, lead to seven more points for Kern Valley when he scored his second TD from the 5 and the Broncs were up 21-0 at half time.
The Runners defense got on track in the third preventing the Broncs from adding to their lead and the offense got a break when a bad snap on a 4th and seven at the 50 set them up on the Kern Valley 20 yard line after Steven Porter pounced on the loose ball. From there Rosamond quarterback Marquiel Archibald hit Curtis McCann with a pass in the end zone and Armando Quintero’s PAT made it 21-7.
Rosamond got back in the game after their defense stepped it up again forcing the Broncs to punt on their next two possessions.
Starting at their own 24 the Runners picked up three first downs on several nice runs by Vance Franco and short pass completions by Archibald to Chris Pratti and Tyler Villanueva. Franco finished off the 76 yard drive taking it in from the two yard line making it 21-13. Quintero added the successful PAT and the Kern Valley lead was cut to 7 with 2:28 left to play.
But on the next play the Roadrunners attempt at the on side kick was covered by Broncs quarterback Kyler Emery and Kern Valley picked up two first downs to run out the clock and come away with the victory.
The Roadrunners finished the season at 2-8 and 1-3 in league while Kern Valley improved to 4-5 and 1-2 with one game to go at Frazier Mountain next Thursday.
